And you really hit me between the eyes when you said you did it because you wanted more time to pursue your own interests. Ouch. That hurt.

I want to be a nurturer, too. Thanks for giving me a healthier mental picture to focus on today.

Your blog is just getting better and better ... ;0)Melindahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01156194155140470909noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-92707266833891233.post-38534690711537421702009-11-18T14:40:53.674-07:002009-11-18T14:40:53.674-07:00Great post! It seems like where it starts, if you can put a positive spin on things it makes all the difference. Our pastor is preaching ...I really like this post.

Our pastor is preaching a series right now about loving. We are starting a new church, and part of our mission is to "love people well, as Jesus did." The assertion of these sermons is that, in order to love well, we need to be well-loved. He's trying to get us to see that that's how God loves us.

You'd better believe our mental images affect our behavior. I think you're on the right track as you picture yourself as nurturer. Good for you.Richella Parhamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04353214472648623583noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-92707266833891233.post-60340403396180581732009-11-17T16:40:46.377-07:002009-11-17T16:40:46.377-07:00Thank you, thank you for writing on this subject!!...Thank you, thank you for writing on this subject!! Great post honey!

I came across this quote by Chuck Swindoll on another blog (sorry, I can't remember where) and I think our mental image of ourselves and our attitude are closely related.
"The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company… a church… a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past… we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it.”chrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17713259917390985611noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-92707266833891233.post-73306606221554496772009-11-17T11:39:28.824-07:002009-11-17T11:39:28.824-07:00Dawn, this is a beautiful post. Creating the mental image of what you want to be is key to becoming it. My nurturing days of children are over, but to be a nurturer is still something I want to be... that and a helpmate to my husband.
