My bloggie friend Dayle has encouraged us to stop and notice the small things, the simple pleasures of life. I think it's a great idea, and goes a long way toward being grateful. Feel free to join in at A Collection of This and That.
OK, I like birds. No real reason, but I find them fun to watch. And sometimes they are cute. I have had three pet parakeets in my life, and each one has been funny in it's own way, so maybe that is where the fascination started.
Last year I put out a little bird feeder. I can see it from the window above my kitchen sink. And as long as Patch isn't out there barking them away, I get to watch various birdies visit and flit about in my yard.
Just the other day I tried my hand and getting some pictures through my window--and got a few that capture that morning's seed-feeding frenzy.

Dawn, I love this Simple Pleasures post! I wish I had more opportunities to watch birds, but, alas, the squirrels rule our yard--both front and back. I think they tend to scare away the birds, but I do love watching them whenever I get the chance. Just yesterday, I saw my very first hummingbird in the backyard. It lasted for a split second but it brought me out of my chair, just to see it there. Lovely photographs!
Well done with the pictures! I am impressed..... and I think it would be fun to watch, too. I love that you took time to find joy in the little birdies.
Dawn birds are wonderful creatures to watch. How fun, they eat and can take a spin!
I love to watch birds too! I think they know it because in both houses where we have lived, they come regularly and put on a little show.
That little romp that you photographed would have been a simple pleasure for me too.
I love to watch hummingbirds....I could spend hours watching them flutter here and there. They are always moving.
BTW, I don't think that makes you a old lady. :)

Dawn - I love feeding the little birds. We have four feeders and I love to see the birds flock to them in the winter.

This is a pleasure! I've been wanting to learn more about birdhouses so I can bring more of the country into my city life. I don't know where to begin though. I would especially like to see som hummingbirds nearby!
